The 2020 Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction Fundraiser will look very different from previous years as we will be following public health recommendations, but we’re pretty excited!

Spaghetti Dinner Poster

This is a fundraiser put on by the parent group at the Centre will look very different this year as we are moving to a drive-thru format (order in advance and pick up your portions the night of) with an online silent auction. The good news is that this means we are able to include more people as our dinner has always sold out, and we have extended our silent auction this year so that it will start at 4:00 PM on Friday, November 20, and close at noon on Sunday, November 22.

There will be five amazing raffle prizes available this year:
BC Gaming Event License #127199, raffle tickets must be purchased by someone over 19.

Draw NumberBasket NameRaffle Basket Description
1st DrawTravel BasketThis is the perfect kit for any traveler out there! The weekender bag will hold enough stuff for a weekend away, and the wireless noise cancelling headphones will guarantee that you will be able to sleep when you need to or just enjoy your quiet space. You’ll also find a water bottle and a leather journal in there if you find yourself brimming with ideas now that you have all that silence to think in!
2nd DrawCoffee BasketSometimes we just need coffee. Lots of coffee. The coffee basket features a 45-cup coffee urn from Hamilton Beach (this will be a lifesaver on Christmas Eve as you are up to the wee hours of the morning building toys from Santa, and will keep those fires burning when the children wake you up after only 90 minutes of sleep) as well as a 1 lbs bag of the Chris Rose Therapy Centre for Autism medium ground from our recent Global Coffee fundraiser. Don’t worry about breakfast – there are some yummy syrups included as well as a box of chocolate chip shortbread cookies and some Purdys chocolates. We even have the mug situation covered – there are two mugs included with some delightfully elaborate handles that remind us of swans.
3rd DrawCozy BasketYou can call it the cozy basket, or you can call it the ‘a night all for me!’ basket. Wrap yourself in a delightfully soft and warm fleece throw (one side is indeed softer than the other!) and enjoy some candy cane truffles and macaroons while you wait for your tea to brew. Don’t forget to put on your brand new cozy socks and admire your new Christmas carving, then wrap up all snuggly and enjoy the soft lighting of your new candle.
4th DrawPamper Me BasketThis basket has everything you need for a night in. You’ll want to start off snacking on your ruby pralines while you deliberate how much Epsom salt you want to load up into the tub, and whether or not you want to use your fizzy bath bomb this time or next. There are also some aromatic lotions you can use when you are finished, but don’t forget to unbox the two rose gold stainless steel stemless wine glasses and fill them with something tasty while you deliberate. Light the candles for the mood, eat some chocolate, smell your new fancy soap … and while you deliberate, you can unwrap your new dressy scarf and decide what outfit it goes best with.
5th DrawChildren’s BasketWe call this the Children’s Basket, but it’s also fun for the child at heart. You can pop in the DVD of the original 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory while you sit there with friends and family opening up a glow in the dark crystal glowing kit, work on your 163-piece LEGO monster truck or play a game of Black Panther Connect 4. For those who just want to watch and snuggle, we have a couple of snuggly little beanie baby friends there, and you can all share the large candy cane and chocolates.

Fundraising in the times of COVID-19 has changed, but this fundraiser is near and dear to our hearts, and the young men and woman that we work with daily deserve for us to try our best. In early 2017, one of our staff stumbled across Fundraising Ideas That Work for Grassroots Groups by Ken Wyman, which talks about different sorts of fundraising opportunities available. One of those was the Stay at Home fundraiser. This was the perfect opportunity to use it.

Congratulations Graduates!

One of our favorite parts of the entire year is also one of the saddest … it is the day that we honor the students who are graduating the Centre this year and moving onto the next step on their path. We have four amazing young people who will be leaving us behind as they discover their own individual path to success.

We are so proud of all of you, and we hope you’ll keep us updated as you build a brighter tomorrow!
