We had everything cemented in place, and then we received some new safety announcements in Interior health limiting the size of outdoor gatherings. We are hoping that the situation will change before our walk takes place, but we have come up with what we consider an amazing alternative — online registration, online pledges, and the ability to walk from anywhere!
No matter where you are in the world, you can take part in our walk. We want to invite everyone, everywhere to join us on September 25, 2021, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, as we Walk for Autism. We would love to see videos and pictures from your day if you would be willing to share them on social media through our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, or with the tag #crtcawalk!
For those of you taking part who are here in Kamloops, the North Kamloops Lions will be here at the Centre selling lunch from 12 PM to 1 PM, with all proceeds going to the Walk for Autism. We have booked the pathways around McArthur Island Park from 10 AM through 1 PM this year, so for individuals who want to do the Walk as we traditionally have can, we just cannot go in the large group that we normally do together. We welcome anyone who wants to come by between 10 AM and 1 PM to register and do the walk in their own groups, but we will not all be able to do it together.
We are committed to respecting the health rules put in place by the province of British Columbia, and all COVID safety protocols will be observed.
Not familiar with our Walk? We welcome you to check out some news articles from previous walks:
There is no charge to participate in the walk itself, but we welcome donations and pledges. All fund raised stay in our community to support individuals with autism spectrum disorder. This event has traditionally been our biggest fundraiser of the year.
There is a minimum $10.00 pledge per participant to receive a T-shirt. T-shirts must be picked up at the Centre as we cannot ship them. For those who will be taking part in the walk outside Kamloops, we would love to see pictures of your walk and the fun you have had — please tag us on social media through our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages!
We want to thank the following sponsors who have donated generously to our Walk for Autism this year:
